Redefining Your Priorities: A Return to What Truly Matters

A priority is defined as “a thing that is regarded as more important than another.”

But who decides what is important?

If you often feel rushed, depleted, or frustrated by not having enough time for what truly matters to you, it may not be a time management issue — it may be an alignment issue.

Sometimes exhaustion isn’t just about doing too much. It’s about spending your precious energy on things that are not rooted in your truth.

Over time, many of us inherit priorities — from family, culture, expectations, or survival patterns — without ever pausing to ask whether they are still aligned with who we are and who we are becoming.

When our actions do not match our heart’s desires, we feel it.

We feel it as tension.
As restlessness. As Chaos.
As quiet dissatisfaction.

Sometimes even as physical symptoms asking us to slow down and reassess.

This is where intuition becomes essential.

Your intuition is your internal guidance system. It knows what is truly important to you right now — not five years ago, not according to someone else’s expectations — but in this season of your life.

When you reconnect with your intuition, your priorities naturally begin to reorganize.

You stop forcing.
You stop chasing.
You begin choosing.

And that changes everything.

Journaling to Reconnect With Your True Priorities

One of the most powerful ways to realign your priorities is through journaling.

Writing creates space.
Space reveals truth.
Truth reshapes direction.

Below are reflective prompts to help you gently examine where your time and energy are going — and whether they reflect what matters most to you.

Reflecting on What Truly Matters

  • What feels most important to me right now? Today?

  • If I could design a dream day, what would it include?

  • Aside from family responsibilities, what are my top 3 priorities?

  • Why did I choose these priorities?

  • When did I choose them?

  • Do they still feel aligned with who I am becoming?

  • Which priorities feel like they come from my heart — and which feel like I am “supposed” to choose them?

  • Do my daily actions support what I say I value?

Exploring Inconsistencies

  • Where does my life feel out of alignment with my stated priorities?

  • Where do my behaviors not reflect what I say I want?

  • What habits or patterns are consuming energy but not supporting my growth?

  • Is it time to release an old priority and make space for a new one?

Creating Space for New Energy

  • What is one lingering task or obligation I can complete this week to free up mental or emotional space?

  • What are my top three intentions for this month?

  • What are my top three intentions for this year?

  • How can I create more space for the practices and experiences that nourish me?

  • Do I have visual reminders (a journal, vision board, creative space) that reflect what I truly value?

When you begin listening to your intuition consistently, your priorities naturally refine. What once felt urgent may no longer feel essential. What once felt impossible may begin to feel inevitable.

Alignment is not about doing more.

It is about choosing differently.
