Re-reading journals and learning how to extract the guidance is a skill in and of itself
- Take some time to think of a question you may have right now. What is one area of life that you would like guidance on? Use the following method to help you find your own guidance…
- Write the question in your journal. To the left of it write a Q and Circle it. Underneath it leave one space and start a new line titled A for answer (circle the A). Then begin to freely write whatever thoughts or answers come to you regarding your Q. Just let the pen flow, don’t judge or overthink, just write, and write and see where it leads you…you can then move on to a second question and third etc.
- Tips on forming questions…Try not to phrase Q’s with yes or no answers. Example: Don’t ask: Should I go to school in London? Rephrase it as: How will going to school in London benefit me? What do I need to know about going to school in London? Etc…
This form of Intuitive Q + A can be very insightful. Go back and re-read what you wrote several hours or a few days later to review your answers. The Circled Q + A’s will help you easily find and decipher the answers what you wrote. Then, use a highlighter to circle anything that stands out to you as clear guidance.
This is an amazing exercise to reflect on in hindsight. Sometimes when I go back and look at journals from several years ago, I’m amazed to see how well I gave myself guidance, knew the exact answer or was given clear direction. Re-reading journals and learning how to extract the guidance is a skill in and of itself…more on that process on my blog HERE.
